The Fifth International High-Level Forum on Sustainable Urban Development, Chengdu China
Within the framework of the Fifth International Sustainable Cities Forum in Chengdu (China), the URA project consortium is supporting the organisation of a high-level dialogue on promoting green lifestyles for sustainable, green, and livable cities and territories. The Science-Policy Dialogue, which is part of the forum organised by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the China Center for Urban Development (CCUD), UN-Habitat, Chengdu City and ICLEI East Asia, addresses the key question of how to leverage the SDGs and the NUA in integrated urban planning, with a particular focus on wider urban regions.
In this context, urban-rural linkages present a new opportunity to synergise development plans and strategies in the urban-rural continuum. This can leverage interdependence and support sustainable and high-quality growth for urban, peri-urban, and rural areas. Furthermore, better urban planning and urban-rural integration stimulate behavioural change, fostering green living and addressing urban sprawl, unequal development, and excessive resource consumption.
Prof. Anke Hagemann (TU Berlin) and Hannes Langguth (TU Berlin) are invited to give a short presentation and participate in the panel discussion.
